XML User Interface Language (XUL)

XML User Interface Language (XUL, pronuncia-se "zul") é uma linuagem de marcação para descrever interfaces de usuário. XUL lhe permite construir aplicações multi-plataforma que podem executar conectadas ou desconectadas à Internet. XUL é uma linguagem de marcação centrada em componentes de aplicação (como janelas, rótulos e botões) ao invés de páginas e hipertexto, ela é baseada em padrões existentes (XML, CSS, DOM, JavaScript/ECMAScript) e oferece portabilidade de plataforma com uma abstração de componentes de interface de usuário, separação entre apresentação e lógica de aplicação, e fácil personalização e localização.

XUL was created by the Mozilla Project; the user interface for all Mozilla's core applications (Browser, Messenger, Address Book, etc.) is written in XUL with one single code base supporting all Mozilla platforms.
